To mark the occasion of the renovation of the Cartier El Kayyat store in Jeddah,Agency Moinard Bétaille entrusted me with the creation of the central fresco.Sand, the Red Sea, the sky, the skyline, King Fahd’s Fountain, the vegetation, palm trees, are all interpreted in a pure and magnified style.
The kinetic repetition of the “calisson” shape (an oval French biscuit) portrays water in rapport with the sky, was inspired by aCartier broach from 1910, and depicts a movement, a depth, a perspective.
This dialog between materials of the tesserae, mat and brilliant, lend a dynamic effect;contemporary patterns inspired by reflections on the water and long expanses of hot sand evoke the desert landscapes, and hold in the heart of the composition, the majestic Cartier panther.
